Interactive Gaming Council

The Interactive Gaming Council (IGC) is a Canadian based nonprofit organization that targets to enhance customer confidence in the global interactive gaming industry in general, and in its members in particular. The IGC was founded in 1999. Its members pay annual dues ranging from $500 to $10000, depending on their member status (affiliate, associate, full). Among its members you will find casinos, software vendors and casino portals.

The IGC offers the following benefits to the online gambler:

Code of Conduct

Each IGC member voluntary agrees to abide with the IGC Code of Conduct. As such, each IGC member guarantees:

It possesses a bona fide gaming license from a sovereign jurisdiction, if gaming licenses are issued in that jurisdiction.
Its hardware and software is available for inspection and review.
Customer privacy and confidentiality.
Truth in advertising.
It keeps detailed transaction records for prompt and efficient dispute resolution.
It tries to implement procedures to prohibit access by minors and to control access by compulsive gamblers.
It pays winnings and balances promptly on demand.

Dispute resolution

If you think an IGC member has acted against the IGC Code of Conduct, you can fill out a customer complaint form at their site. The IGC will then investigate the matter and try to get it resolved.

Seal of Approval

Each IGC member is entitled to carry the IGC Seal of Approval (SOA). If you are about to play at an online casino that carries the IGC SOA you may trust the casino will abide with the IGC Code of Conduct, and if not you can initiate a formal complaint procedure at the IGC website, as described in the previous section. The IGC SOA looks as follows:

Public list of members

The IGC Seal of Approval discussed in the previous section indicates the casino that carries the seal is committed to the IGC Code of Conduct. To verify that the casino carrying the IGC Seal of Approval is actually entitled to it, you can check if the casino is listed on the public list of members as published on the IGC website.
